What I would do if I were you is to triple check again pins #1 and #2 of your adapter, to make sure that they are not touching each other or any other pin in the main harness. The worst news: because your radio is back on, you have some iPod display, but no sound, I think that you also blew the audio section of your adapter. Thus once you got your battery connected back on (you disconnected your battery before installation, did you? ) the radio fuse blew up. The bad news: unfortunately you also stated that you blew a radio fuse, so this also tells me that some wire got crossed between your Ground connection (pin #4 / pin #15) and probably the other two iPod adapter leads. The good news: the mere fact that your radio have display confirmation of the iPod ("BMW" is shown in the iPod display, playlist info in the radio display) tells me that you have the i-Bus connection working right. I know this might be borderline with the cutoff production date and thus explains why it's not working.Ĭlick to expand.Well, IAW the installation document, there are only 4 connections to your radio/car:ġ) KL-R (pin #1 in your iPod connector / pin #5 from your radio harness connector) Am I doing something wrong or is my car not compatible? So it seems like both units are interfaced except I get no music. The IPOD recognizes the interface because it starts charging and displays "OKAY TO DISCONNECT" or something like that. The radio recognizes the IPOD interface because it let's me select mode CD1 (playlist 1 named BMW1). Okay so I have everything installed and connected but I have a slight problem, the radio won't communicate with the ipod. I think it's pretty neat that BMW hid the fuse box in the glove. Of course I had to take out the manual to locate the fuse box b/c I've never changed the fuse in my car before. Took me a while to realize that I had blown one of the fuses. The other hiccup that I had was after I installed everything my radio didn't turn on. For the most part, the job was relatively straightforward except for the fact that I didn't have the pin remover and it took me a while to remove those for pins. Since it was nice out yesterday I figured I’d do the install for the IPOD interface.
